Polar Bear Swim to Support Jay Lake

As many already know, author Jay Lake is battling cancer. His options are limited, and one way to find a possible treatment is a genome mapping. Insurance doesn’t cover that, so Jay’s friends set up a fundraiser witha goal of $10,000 and a stretch goal of $20,000 (for expedited analysis and other things). You can find the fundraiser site here: http://www.youcaring.com/medical-fundraiser/Sequence-a-Science-Fiction-Writer/38705

A bunch of very good SF/F writers, including some big names, offered prizes in the form of doing something whimsical. I’ve never met Jay, but I do know a lot of the authors on the list who offered prizes. I decided to throw something in as well. I said I would do a polar bear swim in my pool if the total reached $20,000 by midnight of the first day. It hit $20,000 by 6:00PM and as I write this late afternoon on the second day, it has surpassed $33,000.

As promised, here is my polar bear swim.
