New Endler’s Livebearers Photos

I snapped a bunch of photos this morning to accompany an article I plan to write for Livebearers, the bulletin of the American Livebearers Association. I thought I’d share a few.

A group of Endler’s Livebearers. The colorful male in front of the bubbles is peacock strain, identified by the peacock-like marking on the tail. Near the females at the top of the frame, you can see a pair of juvenile males just starting to color up

Next, we have a male black bar strain Endler’s Livebearer. Notice the tail is missing the peacock spot of the male in the previous picture. Also, notice the black spot near the vent of the female (in front of the sponge filter). This is her gravid spot, consisting of the fry developing inside of her.
